Lying to teach

Overcoming Bias is a very interesting group blog, which tries to question the inherent biases which are present in our thoughts. This is a really great post about how even lies can really do you some good.

'Your favorite liar' must have made a lasting impact on many a mind!
So long as someone's not teaching to lie, it's all justifiable.
As for being good...isn't that relative? I might think I'm being good/right, but in your eyes, and from your vantage point my action may be despicable.
On a day to day basis how we exercise our choice usually has more to do with viability/ survival in a situation rather than with how we'll be judged (good or bad) on the basis of that action.

I should be clearer in that I did not mean in terms of judging others as bad/good. For there may be many reasons behind their actions.
But perhaps we can atleast try to judge ourselves. I meant that many times we act 'good', without even having the choice of acting any other way. Maybe it is our conditioning. I guess what I mean is similar to saying that courage is not the absence of fear, but prevailing over it.
I was just trying to modify the viewpoint that I had of being good. I think that if you have the opportunity of not being 'good' (and not being found out too!) and you are still able to be 'good', that is what being 'good' really means to me.

"I think that if you have the opportunity of not being 'good' (and not being found out too!) and you are still able to be 'good', that is what being 'good' really means to me." That would be truly 'good' in any sense of the word.
