Dave Winer had a fascinating blog post about his interaction with a large company executive. The bottom line is that in the corporations, personal interests take precedence over all else. Do not trust the words of an exec since it really does not have any value.
His post attracted lots of Hacker News comments and one of them led me to this public broadcast e-mail by Linus Torvalds. This showed to me the other side of higher-ups which is completely bad-ass and can be mouthing obscenities against what they see as B**lsh*t.
