After a day of calm and thinking over the question of poverty, I think I have found the answer. It is nothing new and others might have proposed it before. But now I have become convinced about it and here are some reasons.
No, it is not the One band. It is simply educate. I think the lack of education is the single most important reason why villages in India are the hell holes. An educated family will take better informed decision. They will know more about what is going on around them and what new ideas are being used by others. And most of all, it will light a spark of ambition in them to thirst for a better life.
The amazing miracle of poverty reduction in the West and other developed countries was accompanied by the education of the people there. Even in India, the south is doing economically relatively well and it also has a better literacy statistics.
Ofcourse, there will be hidden factors like politicians who wouldnt want the masses to get educated. But since we have a democracy there is hope. If the civil society takes up the cause of education strongly, there is indeed hope. So do not get mad, get educated!

want to contribute ? here is an idea -
Do whatever it takes, start a business or whatever, and try to provide jobs. 1 job can run a household, and you will end up supporting the livelihood of many ... imagine, you running many households .. imagine !

Except that long with education there is one basic thing that needs to go hand in hand; and thats Awareness... even if education is imparted, not necessarily an individual has awareness in every aspects towrads a better living...

there is a big big catch here! people often follow this principle, and are a corpse still trying to find themselves. The problem? well, they keep finding themselves and dont look beyond what is inside you

the way i look at it is let a hundred start on this journey with good intention, atleast one will make it and look inside himself, and I guess that one will be enough.
